UITP has committed to double the market share of public ransport worldwide by 2025. This call for action is aimed at governments, local authorities, investors and stakeholders to encourage strong political will and intelligent urban planning to form a dynamic public transport sector.

This commitment will:

• Save around 170 million tons oil equivalent and avoiding the emission of around 550 million tons CO2 equivalent in 2025 compared to the business as usual scenario.
• Reduce urban traffic fatalities by 15% as opposed to an increase of 30% in a business as usual
  scenario.
• Double the number of green jobs with public transport operators by 2025 (provided that labour productivity increases by 1% per year) to 14 million.
